The thermal expansion valve is used to regulate the amount of liquid refrigerant supplied in the evaporator. The amount of supply is controlled by the superheat of the refrigerant.
Therefore, this valve is particularly suitable for the supply of refrigerant liquid in a dry evaporator, because the refrigerant superheat at the outlet of the dry evaporator is proportional to the load of the evaporator.

T2 and TE2 thermostatic expansion valves have an interchangeable orifice assembly. The orifice assembly is suitable for all versions of valve body and refrigerants and in all evaporating temperature ranges. The charge in the thermostatic element depends on the refrigerant and evaporating temperature range. The valves are available with internal (T2) or external (TE2) pressure equalization.
